Artificial intelligence for resilience enhancement of power distribution systems

The threat of high impact low probability (HILP) events on power distribution system is substantial but quite unpredictable. Enhancing the resilience grids against such requires solving combinatorial planning and operational problems in stochastic spaces, as well classifying conditions based high-dimensional input data. Since traditional mathematical solutions struggle with both uncertainty curse dimensionality, data-driven techniques artificial intelligence (AI) are gaining momentum for those problems. This paper reviews AI capabilities decision making uncertain spaces general, their particular application resilient enhancement damage detection estimation, cyber-physical anomaly detection, operation, cyber security enhancement. Efficient data structures approaches suggested each problem, which depend type signals, search-based or game-based structure sources involved. In particular, potential applications supervised unsupervised deep learning combined Monte Carlo Tree Search ?-greedy search explored to find near optimal decisions that help enhance systems.
